Salary
Depending on experience, your salary can range from $44,919 to $56,703, plus bonuses and benefits.

Become a force within the force
If you're Louisiana P.O.S.T. (Police Officer Standard of Training) certified or out-of-state certified, you're pre-qualified to become a member of the NOPD through a lateral transfer.
The test for lateral transfers to the NOPD consists of both written and multiple choice questions. Additionally, out-of-state applicants must complete a B-Pad test that measures the officer's law enforcement knowledge. Depending on your law enforcement knowledge and training, you may be placed in an abbreviated, four-to-six week academy class.
Out-of-State lateral transfer requirements To be officially considered for a lateral transfer, police officers from another state must:
- Have completed at least 320 hours of training.
- Be in a full-time, active patrol position for at least one year.
- Have a current/valid P.O.S.T. training certificate or the equivalent.

*$2,500 is paid once the officer is assigned to an NOPD district or division. The remainder is awarded upon successful completion of the one-year probationary period. ** More than 25 years of service: fully vested at 83%, Lump Sum Drop Funds.
